Yen Azzaro's Altar/Alter is an installation homage to the victims of anti-Asian hate crimes over the last two years. Modeled after her childhood Buddhist home altar, deities are replaced with illustrations of Asian-American victims surrounded by found and handmade relics signifying the multitude of identities of the Asian diaspora. Each object and image will be identified with an online legend, accessible for viewers by QR code in the fashion of graphic recording, Yen's profession of drawing and writing what people say in real time.
