I have been working on a body of figurative paintings, using black individuals and channeling traditional portraiture, to portray them in a powerful and iconic way. I am looking at the world through a different lens, where I am unpacking the idea of a state of mind where truth brings freedom from the disparities of this world. I am excited to continue working on my current body of work in a new, visually rich environment, and have the advice of mentors who can help take my work to new levels.
