Mikki is a queer mixed media artist based in Seattle, WA. After working in the graphic design industry for over 10 years, Mikki started to create art for themselves in a variety of mediums. While mainly a painter, their practice has taken them into the surreal and 3d forms, working with paint, epoxy, felting, and sewing. Mikki’s work with Sweet Dreams Society focused on their mental journey of openly living as a trans person. It visually narrates the evolution within their mind, from disassociation and glimpses of my trans identity to embracing my inner beauty and mourning the losses along the way. Beyond appearances, the work aims to illuminate the intricate internal process of transitioning, urging viewers to grasp the complexity inherent in coming out. Mikki plans to focus their future work on more complex issues of social justice, emotional, and mental health.
